Do you have a name of a Charitable Organization for this Drawing? At the 2008 Annual Membership Meeting the concept of selecting a Charitable Organization by a drawing at the Annual Reunion was approved. This drawing provides a one-time gift to a qualified local museum, conservancy or like institution whose holdings include DELANO documents, artifacts or memorabilia. These institutions must be qualified tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations. As a DELANO KINDRED member you are encouraged to submit the name of a candidate organization that you wish to be considered by filling out the form provided as an insert in this newsletter to Charitable Program Committee Chair, Cousin Terri Sorensen at the address on the form. You need to include the IRS Tax ID Number or Employee ID Number which you can obtain from the candidate organization. Because the Charitable Program Committee reviews and selects those organizations that meet the standards of qualification, you should briefly describe the organization and what it does. Then briefly tell what DELANO items it has (such as artifacts, documents, or other holdings) or what programs it sponsors that are related to the DELANO family. Please send your nomination form to Cousin Terri so that she receives it by 15 May 2014. The Charitable Program Committee will review the candidates submitted to assure the qualifications are met. At the 2014 Reunion a drawing will be held of all qualified candidate organizations. The name of the candidate drawn will receive a check for $100.00 from the DELANO KINDRED and that organization?s name will be withdrawn and ?retired? from consideration for the next Annual Drawing. If, at some time in the future, all qualified organizations have been selected then all the previously selected organization names would ?come out of retirement? and be placed back into future drawings. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to help support these institutions either large or small that may not be well known or well endowed and have DELANO items in their holdings.
